Last Thursday we had the pleasure of doing this little guys 6 month photos. He is doing our first year plan so you will be seeing more of him in the future. I really like these kind of shoots because you can see how they change and grow up.

Well our family just got back from a much needed vacation. We went to visit my parents, brothers, and grandparents in North Carolina. After spending a few days at my parents place we headed off to Carolina Beach. Weather was great all week (except for 1 45minute storm). I have yet to post any personal projects or photos on the blog mainly do to a lack of time for personal projects. However while at Carolina Beach i got to play around with an idea I have had for a while.
Let me start by saying I love movies and I especially love movies with great cinematography. I think the 16:9 widescreen format most people view movies in now is perfect for storytelling. As such I have wanted to shoot a set of photos in a 16:9 crop to see if the story telling experience changes at all for the viewer. What I have found is most people like the photos more when viewed from a movie crop and feel more of a connection to them. I attribute that to even tv shows now being broadcast in the 16:9 format and as viewers we see that as the norm. I know some people hate 16:9 if thats you this personal project is probably not for you. For everyone else take a look and enjoy!

Last Saturday August 1st, 2009 I had the pleasure of photographing Jason and Tinas ceremony. We arrived before the ceremony in time to get some shots of the two of them getting ready. Afterwards we headed over to Pierson Park where the two of them were real troopers during the photos because the mosquitoes were really bad. A great big congrats to the both of you!
